Before 2010 I used to go there quite frequently for short teacher training sessions or tests and library access. The staff was very friendly and professional. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I haven't been there lately. I visited the last known address in Porto the end of the year and I cant find them anymore.

Unfortunately, despite such a prestigious reputation, the British Council Porto / Portugal has not paid speaking examiners for work done months ago. What's more, communication regarding the matter has been very poor indeed. I expected a lot better! External speaking examiners & staff beware!

I'm here to write the IELTS. I took a taxi all the way from another city just to be here at the time they asked. But we've been waiting on the street now, in the cold, for half an hour without them having the courtesy to come out and tell us why we're being made to wait. Very inconsiderate. And they charge €230 to take the exam! Stealing, is what it is.

I am absolutely flabbergasted. My partner and I walked in with a professional query, only to be greeted by an inaudible noise made by the man at the reception desk. When my partner asked whether he spoke English, the man said yes and stood up to approach us. He asked in a hostile, aggressive and impatient manner what we wanted. We decided to leave. That is without a doubt the rudest I have ever been treated.
