As aulas são abertas a várias idades, proporcionando uma excelente oportunidade para desenvolver habilidades físicas e sociais.
I traveled from the U.S. to Portugal on vacation to visit family and see the sites. I did not think to pack my Gi because it seemed like we would be so busy, there would be no time for Aikido. Fortunately, we found ourselves in Lisbon with an open schedule. Without prior contact to the Dojo, I showed up for an evening class and met Professor Alexia Duarte an hour before class started. My first concern was the language barrier, (my Portuguese is terrible) but I assumed that Aikido would be the translator. I was correct and Prof. Duarte’s English was excellent! Next, I was a little embarrassed not to have my Gi, but Prof. Alexia assured me that practicing in the gym clothes I carried would be perfectly acceptable. (as I hoped) By the time class started, I met a number of students and felt very comfortable. There were multiple students from other Dojos and a few languages spoken. The class was conducted in a familiar way, but was different than any recent practice. (in a good way) We are already planning our return to Portugal and I’ll be sure to bring my Gi ! Rob
