For adults, I can highly recommend the Body & Mind class on Thursdays at 19:30 and Saturdays at 12:30. I have to say that this was the most fun I have ever had in an exercise class! João began the class by giving us some aromatic oil so that we could do a little self-massage to warm up and get the kinks out of our necks. The class was described to me as a combination of Pilates/Yoga, but it was more than that. We focused on our breath and while executing challenging movements and balances on a large exercise ball, João exhorted us to laugh - loudly and vigorously! It made us relax while performing these difficult movements. We also put stretch bands above our knees (“tight skirts”) and moved about the floor in a jazz dance-like fashion rather than the usual side to side shuffle done in strength class. João finished the class with stretching and giving each student a brief back massage. I loved this joyful class and plan on going back before I leave Porto!
